Senior Associate – Projects

Premium Practice 

Spanning four reputed projects partners, this practice is a genuine top-tier offering. Clients are house-hold names across global resources and energy. Matters span corporate structuring, transactions and projects.  Included will be the negotiation and delivery of M&A and divestments, project structuring including ownership models (JVs etc), finance transactions, and downstream agreements, including off-takes and logistics.

Notable examples of recent transactions include;

• Supporting a mining major with the structuring, negotiation, and implementation of a major asset, including finance, JVs, logistics and sales.
• Advising a battery minerals miner on downstream & offtake agreements. Negotiations with a number of the world’s largest EV manufacturers.
• Financial structuring for a renewable energy project; from due diligence through negotiation phase.

Team Structure

Best suiting a first- or second-year Senior Associate (or an experienced Associate nearing SA conversion), the existing team occupies more senior ranks and are well supported by Lawyer and junior associates.

You will therefore find relatively ‘clear-air’ at your vintage, allowing for continued progression and a fulsome, client facing role (including opportunities to embed with client teams) as you work your way up.

Alternatively, the commercial approach, exposure and depth of collaboration with major resources and energy clients could compliment your existing experience and open more doors for a move into an in-house legal counsel or commercial role for a principal.

Best suiting if you bring the following to the table:

• At least three, ideally five plus, years’ post-admission experience in a premium legal setting, delivering corporate/M&A transactions and/or projects matters.
• Ideally you will have familiarity with WA’s key E&R principals, however the global nature of the matters will make it possible for an interstate or international mover, with experience across APAC or comparable E&R matters.
• An excellent academic pedigree.
