Mining Infrastructure | 8:6 FIFO from Perth | Contract

Take the lead on major civil and earthworks packages for an established WA resources operation on an attractive 8:6 roster.

Scotford Fennessy is partnering with an established WA resources organisation to appoint an experienced Construction Supervisor – Civil / Earthworks to join its site-based Projects & Construction team.

This is a hands-on, client-side construction supervision role, overseeing contractor-delivered civil and infrastructure works within an operational resources environment.

Working across multiple construction fronts, you’ll be responsible for ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification and in accordance with project quality and environmental requirements.
The position is initially offered on a 6-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension based on ongoing project requirements.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Construction & Shutdown Manager, you will provide site-based leadership and supervision across civil construction activities being delivered by external contractors.

The scope will include:

  • Bulk earthworks and civil construction
  • Roads and access infrastructure
  • Drainage and culverts
  • Levees and embankments
  • Pads and hardstands
  • Pavements
  • Concrete works
  • Associated mine and site infrastructure

You’ll work closely with contractors, operations, maintenance, engineering and project stakeholders to coordinate activities and ensure construction packages are delivered safely and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of civil and earthworks construction activities
  • Lead and monitor contractor safety, environmental and quality performance
  • Coordinate contractors and multiple construction work fronts
  • Monitor construction progress against schedules and project deliverables
  • Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications and construction methodologies
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor workmanship and construction quality
  • Review QA requirements including inspections, testing and project documentation
  • Manage and coordinate RFIs, NCRs, defects and technical queries through to resolution
  • Identify construction issues and work collaboratively with engineering and contractors to resolve them
  • Coordinate interfaces between construction, operations, maintenance and engineering teams
  • Maintain accurate records covering progress, delays, variations and key milestones
  • Support project completion, handover and close-out activities

About You
We’re looking for an experienced Civil / Construction Supervisor who is comfortable taking ownership of contractor-delivered construction activities within a mining, resources or heavy industrial environment.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Strong Civil Construction Supervisor / Earthworks Supervisor experience
  • Previous experience supervising significant civil or earthworks packages
  • Client-side, owner’s team or EPCM construction supervision experience highly regarded
  • Strong practical knowledge of earthworks, drainage, pavements and concrete works
  • Experience coordinating contractors and multiple simultaneous work fronts
  • Mining, resources or heavy industrial construction experience
  • Strong understanding of construction QA/QC systems and processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction schedules
  • Experience managing RFIs, NCRs, defects and construction quality issues
  • Strong safety leadership and contractor-management capability
  • Confident communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Current White Card
  • Current Australian C-Class Driver’s Licence
  • Current Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor Training, or ability to obtain prior to mobilisation
  • Full Australian working rights without sponsorship
