This international gold producer is looking for an experienced Underground Mining Engineer (Planning) for their well-established and growing mining operation in Western Australia. This role would suit an engineer with 3+ years of underground experience who is looking for greater exposure to planning, design and operational decision-making.

You’ll join an experienced technical team in a role that offers genuine scope to develop your skills while remaining closely connected to underground operations.

The opportunity
Working within the site technical services team, you will be involved in developing and maintaining mine plans that support safe, practical and efficient underground production.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing short and medium-term underground mine plans and schedules
  • Contributing to longer-range planning, forecasting and budgeting activities
  • Developing underground designs that consider safety, productivity, cost and operational requirements
  • Reviewing actual performance against plan and identifying areas for improvement
  • Working with operational teams to ensure plans are practical and achievable
  • Collaborating with geology, geotechnical, mining and other technical disciplines
  • Identifying planning and operational risks and incorporating appropriate controls
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the mining operation

This position provides a good balance between technical planning and operational exposure, making it a strong next step for an engineer wanting to broaden their underground capability. 

About you 
I am interested in speaking with Mining Engineers who have developed a good grounding in underground operations and are ready for their next challenge.
Ideally, you will have:

  • 3+ years’ underground mining experience
  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • Experience or exposure to underground mine planning and design
  • An understanding of underground mining practices and production requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and operational teams
  • A practical approach to engineering and planning
  • A strong commitment to safe mining practices
  • Experience with Deswik and AEGIS
