Underground Mining Engineer – Drill and Blast

Our client is looking for an experienced Underground Mining Engineer to join their small but high-performing and dynamic Technical Services team at their underground gold mining operation in WA. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer and Underground Manager, your key responsibility will be the safe and efficient design and delivery of production drill and blast plans. You’ll work within a dynamic and technically skilled team to drive the success of daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct QA/QC for drill and blast activities.
• Support the execution of weekly and daily production schedules.
• Liaise with survey and operations teams to ensure timely task completion.
• Develop and issue accurate, practical drill and blast plans and work instructions.
• Monitor production compliance and provide end-of-day reporting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the underground operation.

Role Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Manual “C” Class Western Australian driver’s license.
• Experience with Deswik mine design software.
• Proven underground production experience in mechanised hard-rock mining.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to evolving practices and technologies.

Desirable:

• Underground practical time completed.
• Awareness of the WA Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
• Senior First Aid certification.
